Wednesday started when a happy 6 month old woke me up around 7:15 with an exploding smelly diaper. As I got him all cleaned up, I heard the little girls wake up and scamper downstairs. When I got down there, baby played on the floor while I made my breakfast and a cup of tea. The girls watched one cartoon show before it was time for the tv to go off. At 8:00, the girls ate breakfast and began their chores on the morning list. Meanwhile, I caught up on a few emails while juggling the baby, then got myself dressed.
At 9:00, we met in the school room for morning prayers, pledge of allegiance, monthly virtue and bible verse and then they each began on their school books. After I got them started, I finished putting on my make-up just in time for the Maeser guy to show up at my door to check our furnace.
Then back upstairs, I do my best to encourage Rose to get her writing done so she can do more enjoyable things. She is throwing a not so unusual fit this morning about writing a few sentences about a topic she is less than thrilled about. Eventually she comes out of her room and finishes her story just in time for snack (how convenient).
Around 10:20 Maximus goes down for a nap and we head to the kitchen for snack time. While they are eating (and I am having coffee), I read them a new book we just got called Corgiville Fair. I love reading to them. They were very engaged; asking questions and telling me little stories, so the reading took a little longer than I expected. Around 11:00, we head back upstairs for a little more schoolwork.
At noon, everyone heads to the kitchen for lunch. The girls can make most of their lunch themselves, which is helpful. Max wakes up and I feed him, then we head out the door at 12:30 to take Madeline and Ella to gymnastics. When we got back home, Ava and I get to work on an ocean box she had to make for school while Rose finished her school books.

At 3:15 we head out the door again to take Rose to ballet. After we drop her off, the other kids and I head to the library to pick up some new reading material. I got some great Thanksgiving books to read in the next few weeks!
When we got back home after picking up Rose, I started making dinner (spaghetti and meatballs, per Rose's request) with baby on my hip. Tonight was Rose's first Reconciliation, so our evening was busier than usual. Ava finished her spelling homework while I reviewed the Reconciliation process with Rose.
Paul was working from home today, so he came up from his office around 5:15 and immediately started on the dishes which looked like this before he came to the rescue!
I know, he's a keeper! We did a speedy clean up of the main floor before the babysitter arrived. All hands were on deck. We finally sat down to dinner at 6:10. I scarfed down my meal in 2 minutes and ran upstairs to get ready for Reconciliation night. Paul left to pick up the babysitter and Rose met me upstairs so I could curl her hair.
At 6:35, I gave the babysitter quick instructions and Paul, Rose, Maximus and I headed out the door to St. Aloysius. It was a nice ceremony. Max was quite squirmy, but luckily not too loud. He fell asleep about 5 minutes before we left, of course. We headed to McDonalds to celebrate Rose's big day with a McFlurry.

Once we were home, I took the sitter home while Paul ushered the others to bed. When I got back, I fed the baby and got him to sleep by 9:30, then went in the big girls' room to tuck in the two oldest who were still awake. I finally sat down in the family room at 9:45 to upload pictures and start this post. We were in bed by 10:45...the earliest we have been to bed in weeks! A 5:00 am wake up call for the Mister was more than a little motivation! :)
And that was my day! It was busier than usual, but with a lot of Diet Coke (too much Diet Coke!) I made it through! :)
