Mexico For Two, Please

Last week, Paul and I dropped our kids off in Carmel and headed to Cancun, Mexico for 5 days...just the two of us.  As any parent can attest to, little trips away from the kids are so good for our marriage and give us a break from parenting so we can come back ready to give our best to our family.

Needless to say, we had a wonderful time.  We stayed at an all-inclusive Excellence resort called Playa Mujeres about 30 minutes north of Cancun.  It was our first visit to Mexico and our first try at an all-inclusive resort.  It was a little taste of paradise.

LOVE palm trees!

It was SO nice not to worry about money on the trip.  We definitely indulged in life's finest...fancy meals, fruity drinks, breathtaking views...all the perks that go with an all-inclusive resort...without having to worry about the price of each event.

Dinner outside at the French restaurant, Chez Isabelle

At the Mexican restaurant, Agave.

Our favorite daily activities were definitely the hammocks resting right on top of the water and the lazy river.
It doesn't get much better than that!

He looks stressed, doesn't he ;)

The lazy river flowed right by our room

We did do some active things too.  We sailed the hobie cats, we kayaked, Paul tried wind sailing and played water volleyball, we played ping-pong and tennis, tried pellet gun shooting, and practiced our dance moves at the night club.

Since more than 50% of the guests at the resort were from the US, they put on a special 4th of July dinner and show in honor of our Independence Day.  There was a buffet, a fire show, a live band, and a fireworks display.  It was quite a night!

The weather was perfect, we didn't really get burnt, we got plenty of rest, and tried some new activities.  What a trip?!!!
We can't wait to go back.

We are SO grateful to our families for taking good care of our girls and making this trip possible.  We can't thank you enough!

Hugs!
